Captain Jack Sparrow ventures in the sea to find the heart of Davy Jones and repay his debts. He is accompanied by Will and Elizabeth who are assigned by Lord Cutler to return with Jack’s compass. This movie is all about Johnny Depp, who camps it up from one action-packed scene to the next. Too long, and too wrapped up in its various plot contrivances to notice it’s veering off course. But Jack just about pulls the wheel back, aided by Verbinski’s flair for cartoonish comedy action. Johnny Depp still shines as one of Hollywood’s most memorable characters. But nonstop violent effects and ghoulish tone are the real stars of this Disney sequel.
