In the advertisement for the event, it states the following: The purpose of the panel discussion is to raise the awareness and discuss key issues regarding the potential for online education to lower the costs for higher education in California. We face a crisis in California in our ability to fully support public higher education. As a first approximation, the state should focus its attention on arresting the growth of the cost of education while maintaining or even increasing access and quality, not by simply urging educators to do more with less, but by enlisting their active participation in and contribution to innovative approaches. In accomplishing this goal, California could foster a working coalition that would be capable of attacking even more ambitious targets. Although it is clear here that the frame for the conference is the idea that online education can make higher education more cost effective, I plan to use my time to show how the move to distance education will most likely only increase the cost of instruction.
What is interesting about this event is that it brings together groups that dont normally talk to each other, and while I think that many of these stakeholders are well intentioned, I also believe that good intentions can lead to some very bad collective results. This event is free and open to the public so please come if you are able.

Pixi Glow Collection Event
Pixi Glow Collection Event

![]() | |
A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to the Pixi Beauty event to view the new Pixi Glow Collection. The new line is inspired by Disneys very own Tinkerbell, and she certainly has sprinkled her magical fairy dust all over it! Ive always been a fan of Pixi Beauty but had never visited the Soho store before, it really is beautiful, and for a girl like me thats like a magpie when it comes to pretty packaging it was heaven! The walls are lined with their pastel coloured lotions and potions and I had a good browse of the permanent lines as well, and have certainly added a lot to my beauty wish list! We were all very lucky ladies and each took home the new Pixi Glow collection so here it is in all its glory: (sorry for the lack of swatches! the lighting wasnt too great!) |

Fairy Face Palette in: Pixi belle |
A beautiful palette with such gorgeous wearable colours. Featuring 5 shimmery eye shadows, 5 lip creams, eye and lip applicators, a 3 colour blush palette and blush brush (both of which are hidden underneath this layer and I forgot to take a picture of them! but you can see it here. I really am in love with the colours! I would wear all of the eyeshadows as theyre all pretty, soft, neutral shades and the lip creams add a subtle colour to the lips. The blusher has a slight shimmer to it also, but in more of a highlighting way rather than a glitter ball way! |
| Pixi Glow Nail Colour in: Pirouette Pink This was the first of the products that really caught my eye, I am a sucker for bight pink nail polish and this one doesnt disappoint. I quickly swatched it on my nail for this photo and it really is a bight, neon pink with a slight golden shimmer that only needs one coat to be opaque. |
| Straight On Till Morning Liner in: 2nd Star Twinkle This is really different from the generic black eye liner that I would normally wear, its a very deep olive green with golden flecks of glitter. It definitely adds something extra to your eye makeup and I think this would make green/hazel eyed girls eyes look amazing! I really love this one and im going to wear it on my next night out! |
| Catching Shadows Eye Crayon in: Beaming Reflection Again this is definitely a colour I would go for on my eyes as an everyday shade, and I also think it would work really well as a base to build upon. Its perfect for wearing on its own though and it has a beautiful luminous shine without being glittery. |
Magic Tink Tint in: Happy Thoughts |
A magical tinted lip balm that applies clear and changes colour depending on the PH level in your lips, so you get your very own unique colour! My lips are naturally quite red so this enhances that and gives me a pretty berry red coloured lip. Its really moisturising and has a subtle minty scent that doesnt make your lips feel tingly or like youve just been stung by a bee! |
| Fairy Dust In: Moonlight Luster A loose powder pigment that is the perfect illuminating shade for a brow bone or cheek highlight. its also a great product for highlighting the bridge of your nose to create the illusion of a slimmer nose! its a great all around highlighting product and can even be used on the lips. |
I am honestly so in love with this collection and the brand in general. The colours are so wearable and many of the products have an irredesent quality that leave your face looking fresh and illuminous, without being glittery which is perfect for me!
I can definitely see Tinks having all of these products in her makeup bag!
